New Motorsport UK rules - Balaclavas

As with all new seasons, there are new rules and regulations to keep abreast of and it’s worth having a look through your ASN’s Yearbook for the latest changes.

One we spotted that you may not have, is the Motorsport UK requirement for all competitors on stage rallies to wear an FIA Approved Balaclava from 01.01.2022.

Here is the regulation:

25.3.2. The crew must also wear flame resistant overalls homologated to FIA 8856-2000, FIA 8856-2018 or FIA 1986 Standard, and balaclavas to FIA 8856-2000 or FIA 8856-2018 Standard. Competitors are also strongly advised to wear Flame Resistant gloves, socks, and underwear. Plastic shoes (such as trainers) should be avoided. Attention is drawn to (K.9.1.5 to K.9.3).

Many are familiar with the Overall regulation but the newly introduced balaclava requirement may have slipped your attention.

Race & Rally have access to most major motorsport manufacturers but in our mind, there is only one FIA Approved underwear brand that you need – Walero.

There is lots of wizardry behind the NASA approved (yes, the space people) material but essentially it keeps you cooler for longer, ensuring your concentration and performance remains at its best.
