Meet the Team: Ryan Moore

We are a friendly bunch here at Race and Rally, so we would like to introduce you to one of our newest staff members, Ryan Moore. Ryan has joined R&R as a Parts Consultant, assisting the team with accessories, Peugeot Sport and Citroen Racing enquiries.

We caught up with him for a chat...

What is your role at R&R?

I work at Race and Rally as a Parts Consultant, specifically dealing with our online customers, assisting with purchasing products and enquires through our new and advancing website (www.raceandrally.com).

What car do you drive?

Although Raymond, and Jonathan especially, doesn’t approve, I keep the morale alive in the office by driving my Ford Fiesta.
(He is still on probation because of this. Ed)

Motorsport event you’d like to attend the most?

It would have to be WRC Finland without a doubt. With all of the corners which merge into continuous jumps, it would be an epic sight to watch.

Favourite driver in motorsport and why?

Like the majority of people, it has to be Colin McRae simply because he never gave up.
Despite all the pressure that whe was under and the demands he put on himself, he stood his ground and fought to the end - just what motorsport is all about.

After that, it would be Sebastian Loeb. He has proved his experience and skill in all disciplines of motorsport, claiming wins in WRC, Rally Cross, Pikes Peak and Dakar. Just a great all-rounder and inspiration for upcoming drivers in any field of motorsport.

Describe a typical day at R&R for you?

Sure we will start with Mondays, leaving the house in Ramelton, Co. Donegal at 6:30am to make it to Race and Rally in Carryduff for a 9am start. It's tiresome enough but just wait to this border is built!

But once the 10:30 tea break arrives I am well awake and ready. First thing in the morning is to check over our website for any orders from the weekend or nights before and process these before our couriers arrive at 3pm, ensuring our customers are getting a first class service - receiving their order typically before their desired delivery date if not on it.

After that, everyday is different. You never know who could be walking through the door or be on the other end of the phone seeking advice or parts. We have parts being shipped all over the world daily, which offers a great challenge, as well as those just around the corner or calling into our showroom. I speak to clients as far away as Australia, Sweden, Barbados, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Portugal and even the tip of Cork, the list is endless.

What do you enjoy the most of your job?

Like I said, everyday is different and that simply is the best part of the job, there is no repetition. It stands out from other jobs thanks dealing with high-end products in high-end machinery with drivers from all backgrounds competing all over the world, it can be rewarding and quite challenging.

Having just graduated as a Mechanical Engineer, I really enjoy stepping into our onsite workshop and experiencing first hand the craftsmanship and engineering behind all these trophies displayed in our showroom. But Race and Rally do allow me some fresh air from time to time outside of our HQ!  We attend numerous rallies and events annually within Europe displaying what Race and Rally have to offer, meeting new and existing customers and suppliers for a quick catch up.

If you could have any race or rally car - what would it be and why?

That’s a tough one, with all the latest technology in the WRC today, I'd be pleased with any one of them. But to put a name on it, I would have to choose the Citroen C3 WRC - what a class bit of engineering.
