Pagid Racing make brake pads for every level of motorsport, from historic racing and club rallying through to Rally2 and GT. The range on this page covers all, each built for a different intended use. Here’s what to look for:
- RST competition compounds for rally, sprint and endurance racing, from the versatile RST 3 to the high-friction RST 5E
- RSH compounds designed specifically for historic cars
- Street+ pads developed for fast road use and also suited to track days
- Cross-reference filters for AP Racing, CL, Endless, Ferodo, Mintex and PFC pad shapes, plus AP Racing calipers
- Vehicle filters by make, model and year, especially useful for Street+ pads
Racing Compound or Street+: Which Do You Need?
Start with how the car is used:
- Road car with occasional track days: Street+ is developed for street use, with performance and modulation that also make it suitable for track days
- Competition car: choose from the RST and RS ranges, matched to your discipline and event length
- Historic car: the RSH range is built for historic racing and rallying
Choosing the Right Pagid Racing Compound
Pagid Racing brake pads come in six families, each built for a different type of racing:
|
Family |
Built For |
|
RST |
Rally, sprint and stock car racing, with progressive in-stop behaviour, a consistently firm pedal and good cold friction |
|
RS |
All-round racing, with good pedal feedback, excellent release, disc friendliness and easy bedding |
|
RSL |
Endurance racing, with a wide operating temperature range and very good modulation. Works well with ABS systems |
|
RSX |
Long endurance GT and TCR racing (12+ hours), with an extended pad change window. Copper and antimony free |
|
RSC |
Ceramic composite discs, for track day and club sport use across a wide range of performance cars |
|
RSH |
Historic cars, with applications from the late 1950s through to the 1990s |
Finding the Right Pad Shape
For racing pads, the quickest way to find the right fit is to search by what you already run. Use the cross-reference filters to search by your current AP Racing, CL, Endless, Ferodo, Mintex or PFC pad shape, or by your AP Racing caliper. Each product page lists pad width, height, radial depth and thickness, so you can check them against your existing pads.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use Pagid Racing pads on a road car?
Street+ is developed for road use and also suits track days, so it’s the right choice for a road car. The RST and RSH compounds are competition pads, designed for rally, circuit and historic racing.
Which Pagid compound is best for rallying?
RST 3 suits the widest range of rally use, from tarmac to gravel. RST 5E has the highest friction and initial bite for high-load sprint use, including Rally2 and Rally3. RST 2E works on front and rear axles of rally cars, RST 1 suits tarmac rallying, and RS 42 is a classic rally pad with good cold friction. If you’re unsure, get in touch with your car, caliper and event type.
How do I bed in Pagid Racing brake pads?
Pagid recommend a three-stage procedure. On the out lap, make 10 stops at mid pressure from around 150 km/h (90 mph) to 80 km/h (50 mph). On a fast lap at race speed, make 5 stops at medium to high pressure from around 180 km/h (110 mph) to 60 km/h (40 mph), with maximum acceleration between them. Then finish with 3 to 5 mid-pressure recovery stops on the in lap. See the full Pagid bedding-in procedure for details.
Should I replace my discs and pads at the same time?
Pagid advise against fitting new brake discs and new pads at the same time, and recommend replacing one component at a time. If you’re fitting new pads to a used disc, make sure the compound is compatible with the friction layer already on the disc.
