Collection: Rally Helmets

Rally helmets from Stilo and Bell for drivers and co-drivers, from clubman open face helmets through to FIA 8860 carbon helmets. The range covers Snell and FIA approved helmets in open face and full face designs, composite and carbon shells, with intercom electronics built into most models for clear communication on stage. Use the filters to narrow by brand, homologation, boom type, material or size.

Snell and FIA Approved Helmets for Rally

A rally helmet does more than a circuit helmet: it has to protect you, carry intercom electronics so driver and co-driver can hear each other over a rally car on stage, and stay comfortable through a full day of competing. The Stilo rally helmets and Bell helmets on this page are built around that. Here's what to look for:

  • FIA and Snell homologation across the range, from FIA 8859-2015 and 8859-2024 through to FIA 8860-2018, the FIA's highest helmet standard, with many models also carrying Snell SA2020 or SA2025
  • Integrated intercom electronics, with microphone booms and speakers built into the helmet rather than added on
  • Open face and full face designs, with a choice of fixed or flexible microphone booms on the open face models
  • Composite and carbon shells, from the lightweight Venti4 WRC Composite (from 1370g) to carbon helmets with a shell just over 1kg
  • Wired and wireless compatibility on newer Stilo models, which work with Stilo's WL-KEY wireless system as well as wired WRC intercoms

Open Face vs Full Face Rally Helmets

Most rally crews run open face helmets, which keep communication and visibility simple and leave room for the microphone boom. Open face helmets come with one of two boom types:

  • Fixed boom: Stilo's WRC and Venti models use a fixed microphone boom. On the latest versions it's shaped to deflect in-car noise and adjust closer to your mouth for clearer pace notes
  • Flexible boom: the Bell Mag-10 Rally Sport uses a flex boom, adjustable to suit your seating position / microphone position from mouth

Full face helmets, like the Stilo ST6 R, suit drivers who prefer one. The ST6 R's cut bottom visor gives a better downward view of the dash and pace notes, and it has an adjustable short sun visor and space to integrate a drink system.

Rally Helmet Standards

Rally helmets on this page carry FIA approval, and many also carry Snell approval. The standards below are correct at the time of writing (October 2026):

  • FIA 8859-2015: the usual entry-level standard for nationally sanctioned rallying, with no expiry date currently set
  • FIA 8859-2024: the latest 8859 standard, introduced in 2024 with improved energy management over 8859-2015, also with no expiry currently set
  • FIA 8860-2018: the FIA’s highest helmet standard, required in premier championships and fine to use at national events too
  • Snell SA2020 and SA2025: mainly relevant for events in the US. If your helmet carries both FIA and Snell approval, the FIA homologation is the one that counts for UK and Irish events

Whichever standard you choose, the homologation label inside the helmet must stay in place and undamaged for it to be eligible. Check your series regulations (Motorsport UK, Motorsport Ireland or FIA) before you buy.

Intercom Compatibility

Rallying depends on clear communication between driver and co-driver, so intercom compatibility matters as much as fit:

  • Stilo helmets come with Stilo's WRC electronics and connect to Stilo's WRC and DG intercoms. Newer models such as the Venti4 are also compatible with Stilo's WL-KEY wireless system
  • Bell Mag-10 Rally helmets use ZeroNoise electronics with a female Nexus connector, so they're compatible with other brands' amplifiers, including Stilo's WRC 03, WRC Des 9V and DG-10

Frequently Asked Questions

Should I choose an open face or full face rally helmet?

An open face helmet leaves the face uncovered, with the microphone boom sitting in front of your mouth. A full face helmet has a chin bar covering the lower half of your face. Visors are optional on both types. On this page, the Bell Mag-10 Rally helmets and Stilo's Venti WRC range are open face, while the Stilo ST6 R Composite and ST6 R Carbon are full face, with a cut bottom visor that keeps the dash and pace notes in view. Both can carry the same FIA homologation, so the choice comes down to preference and comfort. Use the Type filter to show only open face or full face helmets.

What's the difference between FIA 8859 and FIA 8860 rally helmets?

FIA 8859 (2015 and 2024) is the mainstream FIA helmet standard used across most national and club rallying. FIA 8860-2018 is the FIA's highest helmet standard, allowing use in all premier championships. Check which standard your series requires before you buy. All standards listed do not have any known expiry date (as of time of writing).

Do rally helmets come with the intercom built in?

Most of the helmets on this page have intercom electronics fitted, including a microphone and speakers. You'll still need an intercom amplifier in the car to connect driver and co-driver. Check the product page for which intercoms each helmet is compatible with.

Do rally helmets come with HANS posts fitted?

Every Bell helmet we stock comes with HANS posts fitted as standard, as do all Stilo models, including the Sport Plus, Venti4 Trophy Plus and Venti WRC range. Check the product page for the helmet you're considering.
