Collection: Schroth Racing

Schroth racing harnesses for rally and circuit competition, from a manufacturer with over 70 years in racing harness development. The range covers the Schroth Racing Enduro and Flexi 2x2 FHR-specific harnesses, the Schroth FHR HANS Device (FIA 8858-2010, from 725g), Schroth Twist Anchor Posts for helmet FHR fitment (FIA 8858-2010) and the Profi Seat Insert Kit. Every harness in the range carries FIA 8853-2016 approval.

Schroth Racing Harnesses and Safety Devices

The range on this page is the Schroth safety kit R&R stocks, covering harnesses, HANS devices, helmet FHR posts and a custom seat kit. Here's what to look for:

  • FIA 8853-2016 approval on the harnesses, the current homologation standard for competition safety harnesses across rally and circuit
  • The Schroth FHR HANS Device completes the Schroth safety kit on the page, carrying FIA 8858-2010 approval and shipping with helmet posts included (from 725g)
  • FHR-specific harnesses: both the Racing Enduro and Flexi 2x2 are built to work with a head and neck restraint device
  • Six-point harnesses with 2" (50mm) lap belts, which sit within the pelvis and are less likely to ride up and cause submarining in an impact
  • Fitment support included: Schroth Twist Anchor Posts for helmet FHR fitment (FIA 8858-2010) and a Profi Seat Insert Kit for creating an individual seat or seat insert, in 30, 40, 50 and 70 litre sizes

Schroth Twist Anchor Posts

The Schroth Twist Anchor Posts are helmet FHR posts, not harness anchors. They screw into helmets with M6 threaded receptacles (fitted as standard on FIA 8858-2010, FIA 8859-2015 and Snell SA2015 helmets or later) and give a quick-clip connection between the helmet and a FHR device. They carry FIA 8858-2010 approval and work only with Schroth Twist Anchor FHR tethers.

If you're buying the Schroth FHR HANS Device on this page, helmet posts are already included with the device, so you don't need to order the Twist Anchor Posts separately. Order the standalone posts if you need replacements, if you're fitting Schroth tethers to a second helmet, or if you already own a Schroth HANS device without the current New Style posts.

Harness Angles and FIA Homologation

Harness geometry, particularly the angle of the shoulder straps from the anchor point over your shoulder, is regulated for good reason. The Schroth harnesses on this page carry FIA 8853-2016 approval, the current standard for competition harnesses.

If you're unsure whether your car, seat and mounting points meet your specific championship's regulations, check with Motorsport UK, Motorsport Ireland or the FIA depending on your series, rather than assuming compatibility from the harness spec alone.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does FHR-specific mean on a Schroth harness?

FHR-specific harnesses are designed to be worn with a head and neck restraint device (a HANS device or hybrid). The shoulder strap geometry and hardware are shaped so they don't foul the device or push it out of position.

Are Schroth racing harnesses FIA approved?

Yes. The Schroth harnesses in this range carry FIA 8853-2016 approval, the current FIA standard for competition safety harnesses. The Schroth FHR HANS Device carries FIA 8858-2010 approval as a head and neck restraint, with helmet posts included as standard. The standalone Twist Anchor Posts also carry FIA 8858-2010 approval as helmet FHR posts.

How long do FIA harnesses last before they need replacing?

FIA-homologated harnesses have a service life of five years from the year of manufacture, printed on the label. After that date they're no longer valid for competition, regardless of physical condition. The rule is the same under the FIA, Motorsport UK and Motorsport Ireland, so check the date on the label before you buy or compete.

What are the Schroth Twist Anchor Posts for?

They're helmet FHR posts, not harness anchor posts. They screw into helmets with M6 threaded receptacles (FIA 8858-2010, FIA 8859-2015 or equivalent Snell homologations) and give you a quick-clip connection between the helmet and your FHR device. They carry FIA 8858-2010 approval and work only with Schroth Twist Anchor tethers, so they're not a universal helmet post.
