Monit Motorsport Electronics
Monit Motorsport is a specialist manufacturer of rally computers and motorsport electronics, trusted by professional rally teams and club competitors worldwide. Designed and built in New Zealand, Monit products are developed with a singular focus: giving co-drivers the accurate, reliable data they need on stage. The G-Series rally computers represent the latest generation of that thinking, combining GPS+ technology with a graphical interface that makes installation and use straightforward in any vehicle.
Monit Rally Computers
The Monit range covers everything from entry-level trip meters to fully featured GPS+ rally computers for the highest level of competition. Here's how the range breaks down:
-
G-200+: GPS+ technology with time-of-day clock, average speed, fuel management, overspeed alarm, and stage recorder. The choice for competitors who need every feature at the highest level of competition.
-
G-100+: GPS+ technology with automatic switching between GPS and wheel sensor for accurate readings in forests, tunnels, and poor signal areas. Compact and suitable for modern, classic, and historic vehicles as well as recce cars. GPS can be disabled for events where it isn't permitted.
-
Q-20: two distance counters plus current and average speed; ideal for blind, pace note, or regularity events at club level.
-
Q-10: entry-level trip meter with two resettable readings, split/freeze function, and km/mile display. Does exactly what a co-driver needs for following a roadbook.
Sensors
Monit offer a range of sensors to suit different vehicle types and installation setups, from inductive wheel probes for vehicles without an existing speed signal, to interfaces that work with factory-fitted electronic sensors already present on the gearbox or differential. The right choice depends on your vehicle's existing setup. If you're unsure which sensor suits your car, get in touch and we'll help you find the correct option.
Antennas
All G-Series rally computers require a compatible Monit GPS antenna to receive speed and distance data from GPS satellites. Antennas are quick to fit and remove. They’re not required if GPS functions are not being used.
Recce Car Kit
The Monit recce car kit bundles a windscreen suction mount with a custom G-Series wiring loom, pre-wired with a cigarette lighter power adaptor or USB-C and handheld reset switch. It's designed for fast, temporary installation into any vehicle, which is ideal for hired or borrowed recce cars where finding a speed signal isn't possible, or for classic and historic vehicles where you don't want to modify the car. Two versions are available: one with a pre-wired button and one with a plug for compatible Monit remote switches.
Monit Brake Bias Dial
The Monit Brake Dial is a remote brake bias adjuster designed to work with all existing racing pedal boxes and balance bars. Unlike a traditional remote adjuster, it has an integrated sunlight-viewable LCD screen that counts and displays each quarter-turn click of the balance bar, so you can set a zero point at your preferred bias position and adjust with confidence, knowing exactly how far you've moved and how to get back.
Mounting and Installation
-
Dashboard bracket and mounting accessories available to suit a permanent cockpit installation
-
Remote reset switches available separately, allowing the co-driver to reset trip readings without reaching the unit
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between the Monit G-Series models?
Both the G-100+ and G-200+ use the same GPS+ technology and share the same core distance and speed functionality. The G-200+ adds a time-of-day clock, average speed, fuel management system, overspeed alarm, and stage recorder. For most club and national competitors, the G-100+ has all the features required. If you regularly compete at a level where fuel management and stage recording matter, the G-200+ is worth the step up.
What antenna does the Monit rally computer use?
The G-Series rally computers work with an external roof-mounted antenna for the best GPS signal quality. Monit's magnetic mount antenna is the recommended option as it attaches directly to the roof without drilling, making installation clean and straightforward.
Is the Monit rally computer legal for my rally series?
For most national and international rally series, a Monit G-Series or Q-Series rally computer is perfectly legal; rally computers are not generally restricted equipment. However, some events and series have specific rules around GPS use on stage. The G-Series includes the ability to disable GPS completely, allowing the unit to operate from a wheel sensor alone where GPS is not permitted.
What sensors are compatible with Monit rally computers?
The G-Series GPS+ computers work with or without a wheel sensor. GPS alone is sufficient for most conditions, with the wheel sensor acting as a backup when satellite signal is lost. Q-Series computers require a wheel speed sensor to function.
Compatible sensors include the PR001 inductive wheel probe for detecting a metal nut or bolt on the driveshaft, the PR002 speed sensor interface for vehicles with an existing speed sensor output, and the PR003 ABS interface for cars with ABS systems. If you're unsure which sensor suits your vehicle, email our team with your make and model.
